Carissimi, ecco a voi l’album dell’anno. Posso concludere le recensione così, perché non ho dubbi al riguardo, c’è poco da discutere.
Scrollarsi di dosso l’etichetta della band di Banana Brain non è affatto facile così dopo due album belli, ma non quanto il celebre disco d’esordio, il terzetto di Innsbruck spara un disco incredibile. In meno di 24 minuti arrivano 13 rasoiate che non lasciano spazio alle parole. C’è tutto quello che deve esserci in un disco punk rock: velocità, attitudine, melodia, potenza e semplicità così come la sacra scuola newyorkese insegna.
Ogni pezzo, a mio avviso, è davvero degno di nota, segnalo in particolare il singolo d’esordio “Love Is Out” (qui il video), “Fifth Rule” e “Scorpion” dedicata a sua maestà Dee Dee.
In un genere musicale dove spesso abbonda la mediocrità travestita da sperimentazione, i Mugwumps ci regalano questo gioiellino che mette in riga tutti e surclassa il 90% di dischi usciti quest’anno.
Menzione speciale per la copertina, opera di quel fenomeno di Tommy Eppes.

Hands up who has never listened to Banana Brain at least once and headbanged for the whole duration of this fantastic album? Well, I guess you’re just one of the very few and without going into unnecessary details we will make a brief introduction of the band. The Mugwumps are an Austrian trio from Innsbruck, who have been active for over 15 years – interspersed by a 4 year break – they play old school punk rock that they define themselves as a mix between Screeching Weasel and Head.
Considered by everyone as one of the leading bands of the European punk rock scene, their contribution is undoubtedly an added value for the tribute album set up by Moms Basement Records to the Las Pezia rockers.
So we talked a bit with Chris, singer and guitarist of the band about the Manges and he told us “They are a great band and great people!! When we 1st heard them we fell in love right away! When we 1st played with them we shit our pants!! Now we still buy all their records, like them a lot and highly respect them!!”.
Let’s see what he says about the song chosen for the compilation “We weren’t sure which song we should do. A few weeks before we recorded we played a Show in Italy where we did some Songs together with Andrea! One of the songs we played that night was Another Day …so we just picked that song because we like it a lot and we already knew how to play it!”. I must admit that “Another Day” is also one of my Manges favourite song and I really liked the interpretation of Mugwumps!
Alzi la mano chi non ha mai ascoltato almeno una volta Banana Brain e fatto headbanging per l’intera durata di quel fantastico album? Bene, immagino siate ben pochi e senza scendere in inutili dettagli faremo un breve presentazione della band. I Mugwumps sono un terzetto di Innsbruck attivo da oltre 15 anni – intervallati da una pausa di ben 4 anni – che propone punk rock old school che loro stessi definiscono come un mix tra Screeching Weasel ed Head.
Considerati da tutti uno dei gruppi di punta della scena punk rock europea, la loro partecipazione è senza dubbio un valore aggiunto per il tributo messo in piedi dalla Moms Basement Records ai rockers di Las Pezia.
Ci ritroviamo quindi a parlare un po’ con Chris, cantante e chitarrista della band che riguardo ai Manges ci dice “Sono una grande band e delle grandi persone. Quando li abbiamo ascoltati per la prima volta ci innamorammo all’istante e quando suonammo per la prima volta insieme ci siamo proprio cagati addosso. Ancora adesso compriamo i loro dischi, ci piacciono un sacco e li rispettiamo tantissimo!!”.
Vediamo invece cosa ci dice rispetto al brano scelto per la compilation “Non eravamo sicuri quale canzone avremmo dovuto scegliere. Un paio di settimane prima di registrare abbiamo suonato in Italia e fatto qualche canzone insieme con Andrea. Abbiamo suonato anche Another Day quella notte, l’abbiamo quindi scelta perchè ci piace un sacco e sapevamo già come farla”.
Devo ammettere che è anche uno dei miei pezzi preferiti dei Manges e l’interpretazione dei Mugwumps mi è piaciuta davvero tanto!
E’ sulla bocca di tutti ormai da tempo, quindi non servono grandissime presentazioni, sicuramente diffondere il comunicato ufficiale può aiutare a fare un po’ di chiarezza a chi ancora ha qualche dubbio o perplessità.
La mia opinione è che sarà davvero una bella festa, oserei dire in famiglia. Tanti amici, tante band, tanta bella musica e i soliti accordi per quattro giorni. Non basta?
Nel nostro piccolo, stiamo cercando di dare il nostro contributo così unendo le forze con altre realtà come S.N.A.F.U., No Reason Records e Poison Heart ‘Zine (rip) abbiamo deciso di realizzare una fanzine in vecchio stile. Nessuna anticipazione – anche perchè siamo nel bel mezzo dei lavori – mi permetto di dire a nome di tutti che siamo davvero orgogliosi di come si sta evolvendo consapevoli che sarà davvero un bel “giornalino”.
A quanto pare sono rimasti pochi posti liberi nell’ostello punk rock, quindi consiglio vivamente a chi avesse bisogno di un posto letto di prenotare. Concerto esclusivo e compilation del Raduno incluse nel prezzo. Mica male.

Punk Rock Raduno will take place at Spazio Giovani Edonè in Bergamo, a multifunctional venue already known for underground events like Bergamo Sottosuolo, The Exhibition Night, Monster Zero Summer Mash, Vintage Roots Festival, Bergamo Reggae and more.
To help all the people that will attend from out of town (and out of Italy), taking advantage of the (very close) Bergamo international airport, and to create an original “festival experience”, the dedicated offer is #punkrockhostel In the event days, the high-quality Bergamo Hostel, located in Monterosso (10 minutes walk to the venue) will accept only the festival crowd and artists. Beside accommodation and breakfast, the guests will receive a copy of the Punk Rock Raduno compilation, gadgets, and access to an exclusive secret show that will take place in the hostel. It is still possible to book accomodation at:
The punk record labels that will take part in the first edition are Surfin’ Ki Records (Italy), It’s Alive Records (USA), Monster Zero Records (Austria), Striped Records (Italy).
They will have at least two bands of their roster playing at the fest, and they contributed to the release of a vinyl LP of the Punk Rock Raduno. 18 previosly unreleased or rare songs from the 18 bands composing the festival line up. The record will be available at the event, and hostel guests will get a free copy. And there is more: DJ sets, Ramones.World exhibit, merchandise and records vendors, the Punk Rock Raduno fanzine.
Edonè is also an excellent hangout for food&beverages lovers, with his choice of restaurant, pizzeria, burgers, cupcakes, Italian specialties, cocktail bar. The Sunday July 17 will be dedicated to a special edition of Filler, the Italian convention of skate/punk/hardcore/DIY art and illustration.
Dopo il successo dello scorso anno torna in Italia, per la seconda volta il Monster Zero Summer Mash organizzato da Kevin Aper e la Monster Zero Family in collaborazione con la Otis Tour.
Non ho mai amato i festival per mille motivi diversi, ma al MM devo dire che si respira proprio un’atmosfera diversa: non è come quei festival abominevoli (qualcuno ha detto Rock In Idrho???) con gente a caso ma è una vera e propria festa tra amici provenienti da tutta Italia e da ogni angolo d’Europa (maggiori info qui).
Per un weekend l’Edonè di Bergamo sarà quindi il fulcro del punk-rock europeo e la presenza sarà davvero obbligatoria per tutti gli amanti del genere e della musica indipendente.
Inoltre l’ingresso è pure gratuito, non ci sono proprio motivi per lamentarsi!
Il giovedì ci sarà anche un bel warm-up con il Pre-Party MZSM: dj-set di Simo Riccobelli e show acustici a sorpresa. Le band che si “sfideranno” a colpi di 3 accordi e tante belle melodie saranno:

1 – Us Griswalds are – Steve Legend on Guitar/Vocals, Ben Nuthink on Bass/Vocals and Daz Reject on Drums/Backing Vocals. We’ve been doing this Ramones fast Punk Rock since 1995!
2 – The Ramones for me (Steve Legend) we’re who got me into what we often call Pop Punk. Back when I was a teenager I was a bit of a Metaller but discovered the Ramones through their Loco Live album. I just loved the simple catchy power they gave off with songs that you could sing along too but also go crazy too. I also loved how they didn’t stop too! I was lucky enough that I got to see them 3 times live and it was always amazing, would make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up as soon as they played The Good, The Bad and The Ugly before coming out and blowing everyone away! We got to support Dee Dee back in 1996 too which was incredible. From way back then I’ve just loved that 3 chord power “Pop” Punk.
3 – The Monster Zero Mash will be like all the others – Kick-Ass of course!! Just a bit hotter cos it’s July and in Italy! Whoop!

1 – We are the Bat Bites. Creatures of the Night, all dressed up in black and white. We are villains of punk rock, play catchy tunes with a little bite. We love to party with our friends and dance and drink with them all night!

3 – We hope to hang out with many of our friends, see many good bands and enjoy some sun.

Our band it’s formed by me, Vale (lead singer-bass), Davide (guitar- chorus) and Palmina (drums-chorus) Me and Davide are friends since a long time and used to play together some years ago in a never-known punk rock band called The Sockets. We never really gave up our will to put a band together so after meeting Palmina (ex Photogenics – Coco’s) we thought to give ourselves a second try.. And.. Here we are!
02 – Well.. This surely will be the most obvious answer ever. They are the band I never get tired to listen to. They are the band that touches me the most. They were the first band who put together the coolest things that music can transmit: energy and powerfull mixed to catchy melody.. In their own and unique way. They are pure rock’n’roll. 03 – Honestly I don’t have any real expectation.. Except of course having fun and party with all the people down there! I personally love the MZM a lot and it’s one of my favourite event of the year.. I would have gone there anyway.. but since we are gonna play there too it’s gonna be even more fun!!

1 – We’re a punk rock band based in Venice. We’re together since 2011 and back in that year we recorded our first demo “Ready to Go“. Our sound is influenced by historical bands such as Ramones and Riverdales, but also by the more recent Teenage Bottlerocket.
2 – They are the best band of the world, we’re grateful to them. Every time we hit the stage we keep in mind the words of Dee Dee “The Ramones saved my life. Without the Ramones would have died a million times“.
3 – We’re really happy to be part of this amazing festival. It doesn’t happen every week to play with the bands you love and party with them. we will do our best to make this festival epic. The scene in Italy exists and is pretty cool, and is a huge opportunity to have the Monster Zero Mash in Italy this year.
1 – The command was officially founded in the back of a skate shop in 2003 by a group of three veterans of different wars fought during the 90s for peace, freedom and for the glory of the Ramones. Sono stato abbastanza fortunato da vederli dal vivo ben 3 volte ed è sempre stato grandioso, ti rizzava il pelo non appena iniziava The Good, The Bad and The Ugly ancor prima che salissero sul palco e spazzassero via tutto! Siamo stati anche di supporto a Dee Dee nel 1996 ed è stato incredibile. Da allora ho sempre amato quel 3 chord power “Pop” Punk.

3 – Sarà un grandissimo weekend, quindi… tanto divertimento, wild party per tutta la notte e proveremo a contribuire a mantenere lo spirito dei Ramones vivo per questi due giorni di follia punk rock.
La nostra band è formata da me, Vale (voce-basso), Davide (chitarra – cori) e Palmina (batteria-cori) io e Davide siamo amici da molto tempo e qualche anno fa suonavamo insieme in una mai-nota band chiamata The Sockets. Non ci siamo mai arresi a mettere su una band così dopo aver incontrato Palmina (ex Photogenics – Coco’s) abbiamo provato a darci una seconda possibilità…e ..eccoci qua!
2 – Bene.. questa è sicuramente la più ovvia risposta di sempre. Sono la band che non mi stanco mai di ascoltare. Sono la band che mi emoziona di più. Sono la prima band che ha messo insieme le cose più fighe che la musica può trasmettere: energia e potenza unità a melodie accattivanti.. nella loro propria e unica maniera. Loro sono puro rock ‘n’ roll. E sicuramente la mia band preferita di tutti i tempi.
3 – Onestamente niente in particolare.. eccetto ovviamente tanto divertimento e fare festa con tutte le persone che saranno li! Personalmente amo il MZM un sacco ed è uno dei miei eventi preferiti di tutto l’anno.. Ci sarei andata comunque ma visto che suoneremo anche noi…sarà più divertente!!
4 – Sarete in grado di sentirci presto – non adesso sfortunatamente – perchè il nostro primo 7” uscirà dopo l’estate… ma in caso vogliate sentire qualcosa prima…venie al Monster Zero Summer Fest! Potete sempre seguirci su facebook oppure su twitter.
ON MY ARMS
1 – Siamo una band punk rock di Venezia. Suoniamo insieme dal 2011 quando abbiamo registrato il nostro primo demo “Ready to Go“. Il nostro sound è influenzato da band storiche come i Ramones eRiverdales, ma anche da quelle più recenti come i Teenage Bottlerocket.
2 – Sono la migliore band del mondo, siamo molto grati a loro. Ogni volta che saliamo sul palco teniamo in mente le parole di Dee Dee “I Ramones hanno salvato la mia vita. Senza i Ramones sarei morto un milione di volte“.
3 – Siamo davvero felici di far parte di questo grandissimo festival. Non capità tutte le settimane di suonare e far festa con band che amiamo. Faremo del nostro meglio per rendere questo festival epico. La scena in Italia esiste ed è molto figa, ed è davvero una grande opportunità avere il Monster Zero Mash in Italia quest’ anno.
1 – Il commando si è ufficialmente formato nel retro di uno skate shop di Genova nel 2003 grazie a 3 veterani di diverse guerre combattute durante gli anni ’90 per la pace, la libertà e per la gloria dei Ramones. Molti combattenti sono venuti e se ne sono andati negli ultimi anni, alcuni sono caduti nel campo di battaglia, altri onorabilmente congedati, al momento le cose sono così: Cap: Guitar and vocals, Andre Monelli Bass and 1-2-3-4, Pablo Ratòn: drums
2 – E’ molto difficile da spiegare perchè i Ramones sono di un altro pianeta rispetto qualsiasi altra band me dovessi dire qualcosa in poche parole probabilmente direi qualcosa del tipo “la vita non è così disgustosa , puoi sempre andare a casa mettere su “Leave Home” e dire sayonara a tutti”
3 – Forum sociali, petizioni per salvare le balene, dibattiti pubblici, forum politici, birra analcolica, poser e chitarre in upstroke. Tolte queste cose, ci aspettiamo qualsiasi altra cosa.

[A] – Ciao Kevin, come stai? Come va lì al quartier generale della Monster Zero?
[K] – Ciao Andrea, tutto bene qui, sono molto occupato con le preparazioni del Monster Zero Summer Mash a Bergamo per la prossima settimana. E certamente sto guardando la Coppa del Mondo!
[A] – Sei ben conosciuto per essere il cantante/bassista degli Apers ma tutti sanno che gestisci anche una label chiamata Monster Zero Records, nata nel 2007. Come ti è venuta in mente questa idea? Chi gestisce la MZR con te?
[K] – In realtà è iniziato tutto con una festa chiamata il Monster Zero Mash. Subito dopo mi resi conto che Banana Brain dei Mugwumps era stato pubblicato solo su vinile, quindi gli chiesi se potevo pubblicarlo in CD. In questo modo abbiamo iniziato! Oltre a me, c’è mia sorella Kim che mi aiuta con ogni cosa. Merel dei Bat Bites si prende cura degli artwork, Ivo Backbreaker degli Apers le dà una mano oltre a prendersi cura del sito web e della newsletter. Anche Ox degli Accelerators, Stefan della Stardumb e molti altri sono sempre lì ad aiutarmi quando ne ho bisogno.
[A] – La Monster Zero Records è sicuramente una delle label punk rock più attraenti in Europa. Quali sono i parametri che una band deve rispettare per potersi unire alla famiglia della MZ? Come lavorate con le band? Nuove release all’orizzonte?
[K] – Pfff, la cosa più importante è che mi devono piacere le band, la loro musica e la gente che ci suona. Questa è la base. E’ il mio personale Pokemon del punkrock, devo collezionarli tutti! Sono orgoglioso di poter chiamare tutte le band nella label miei amici. Ecco perchè a volte siamo poco-professionali, ma siamo fatti in questo modo. E si, abbiamo molte nuove release in arrivo! Abbiamo appena pubblicato il nuovo disco dei Windowsille c’è nuovo materiale in lavorazione dei Bat Bites, Maladroit, Not Scientists, 7Years Bad Luck e The Apers!
[A] – Qual è la tua release preferita di sempre?
[K] – Mi piacciono tutte nella stessa maniera!
[A] – Ok, parliamo un po’ del Monster Zero Mash. Che cosa ci puoi dire al riguardo? Quali sono i tuoi ricordi preferiti riguardo tutte le edizioni passate del MZM?
[K] – Ad essere onesto, non ricordo tantissimo eheheh. Tutte le edizioni sono state speciali. Le prime sono state a Rotterdam al Waterfront, The Watt e The Exit. E’ stato gradioso, emozionante. Rotterdam è una grande città e in quel periodo la scena stava esplodendo. Anche ad Innsbruck è stato bello, per ben tre volte. La divisione punk rock belga è venuta in macchina fin qui 3 volte e proprio mandato giù il posto. Tutte le band, tutti i post-concerti. E’ punkrock ed è divertente.
[A] – Fra un paio di settimane, per la prima volta, ci sarà un edizione estiva del MZM. Perchè in Italia? Ci ami? 🙂 Quali sono le tue aspettative al riguardo?
[K] – Si, AMO l’Italia! Era da un po’ che parlavo con Franz della Otis Booking di fare una festa in Italia e finalmente ci siamo decisi a farlo. Mi aspetto che sia divertente e spero che molti punkrockers italiani verranno a supportare le band italiane ed europee che lavorano duramente anche per supportare la scena. Oltre a questo spero di ubriacarmi e magari fumare un po’ d’erba!
[A] – Quali sono i piani delle due serate?
[K] – Gruppi, birra, Dj e fare festa! Sabato ci sarà anche qualcosa di acustico, quindi inizieremo per le 2 di pomeriggio più o meno. Rock N Roll Non-stop!
[A] – Potresti spendere due parole riguardo alla band coinvolte nel festival?
[K] – Uh, le amo! La maggior parte di queste band le ho viste molte volte. Sono molto emozionato anche riguardo band come i Nuts, Ratbones, On My Arms e 3Slugs che rappresentano la scena italiana poppunk emergente. Veterani come i Manges, Griswalds e Tough o nomi nuovi come Murderburgers, Riccobellis e Bat Bites, o il grande ritorno dei Mugwumps e questi idioti degli Apers. Sarà leggendario!
[A] – Qui ad I Buy Records, siamo malati di Ramones, quindi dobbiamo chiederti qualcosa riguardo la nostra band preferita. Qual è il tuo primo ricordo legato ai Ramones?
[K] – Nel 1995 ero in vacanza negli USA e presi una copia di End of The Century. Subito dopo formai gli Apers. Nel 1996 Marien Nicotine, Ivo Backbreaker ed io andammo ad Amsterdam per vederli nel tour di Adios Amigos. Il nostro primo concerto fu un mese dopo ad un festival di cover dei Ramones.
[A] – Una domanda extra che non interesserà ai punk-rockers ma a me si. Chi vincerà i mondiali di calcio? Per favore, no essere patriottico!
[K] – Mentre parliamo sto guardando una partita, e spero davvero che l’Olanda vincerà la Coppa. Fino ad adesso nessun altra squadra mi ha davvero impressionato ma di sicuro Germania, Francia, Brasile e Argentina sono davvero delle ottime squadre.

[A] – Hi Kevin, how are you? How the things are going at Monster Zero head-quarter?
[K] – Hey Andrea, all good here, very busy with all the preparations for the Monster Zero Summer Mash in Bergamo next week. And of course watching the World Cup!
[A] – You are well-known to be the singer/bass-player of the Apers but everyone knows you run a label, called Monster Zero Records, born in 2007. How did you come up with this idea? Who is running MZR with you?
[K] – Actually it started with a party called the Monster Zero Mash. Then I found out that Banana Brain by The Mugwumps had only been released on vinyl, so I asked them if I could release it on CD. That’s how we started! Besides me, there’s my sister Kim who helps me with everything. Merel from Bat Bites takes care of the artwork and Ivo Backbreaker from the Apers helps her with stuff and takes care of the website and the newsletter. Ox from Accelerators, Stefan from Stardumb and many others are always there to help me with stuff aswell.
[A] – Monster Zero Records is definitely one of the most attractive punk rock label in Europe. What are the parameters for a band in order to join the family MZ? How do you work with the bands? New releases on the horizon?
[K] – Pfff, most important is that I like the bands, their music and the people in the band. That’s basically it. It’s my personal punkrock Pokemon, I gotta collect ’em all! And I’m proud to call all of the bands on the label my friends. That’s why sometimes it’s a bit unprofessional, but that’s the way it is. And yes, we have many new releases coming up! We just released the new record by The Windowsill and there’s new material in works by Bat Bites, Maladroit, Not Scientists, 7Years Bad Luck and The Apers!
[A] – What’s your favourite MZR release ever?
[K] – I love them all equally!
[A] – Ok, let’s talk about the Monster Zero Mash. What can you tell us about it? What are the best memories so far about all the MZM past editions?
[K] – To be honest, I don’t remember that much hehehe. All editions were special. The first few in Rotterdam, at the Waterfront, the Watt and the Exit. That was great, exciting. Rotterdam is a great city and back then, the scene was booming. Innsbruck has been amazing three times aswell. The Belgian punkrock division that drove up there 3 times to really take down the place. All the bands, all the afterparties. It’s punkrock and it’s fun.
[A] – In a couple of weeks, for the first time, there will a summer edition of the MZM. Why Italy? Do you love us? 🙂 What are your expectations about it?
[K] – Yes, I LOVE Italia! I have been talking to Franz from Otis Booking for awhile about throwing a party in Italia, and we finally decided to go for it. I expect it to be fun and I hope that many Italian punkrockers come out to support Italian and European bands that work hard for a scene they believe in. Besides that I hope to get drunk and maybe smoke some weed!
[A] – What are the plans for both nights?
[K] – Bands, beer, DJs and party action! On Saturday we also have some acoustic fun, so we start around 14:00. Non-stop Rock N Roll!
[A] – Could you spend few words about the bands involved with the fest?
[K] – Uh, I love them! Have seen most of them many times. Also excited about Nuts, Ratbones, On My Arms and 3Slugs who represent the evergrowing Italian poppunk scene. Veterans like Manges, Griswalds and Tough, newer ones like Murderburgers, Riccobellis and Bat Bites, the great comeback band The Mugwumps and these idiots from The Apers. It will be legendary.
[A] – Here at I Buy Records, we are Ramones-junkies, so we’ve to ask you something about our favourite band. What’s your first memory related to the Ramones?
[K] – In 1995 I was on holiday in the USA and I picked up a copy of End Of The Century. After that I immediately started The Apers. In 1996 Marien Nicotine, Ivo Backbreaker and myself went to Amsterdam to see them on the Adios Amigos tour. Our first show was a month later at a Ramones cover festival.
[A] – Ok, a extra question that punk-rockers don’t care, but I do. Who will win the Soccer World Cup? Please, don’t be patriotic!
[K] – I’m watching it as we speak, and I really hope that the Netherlands are gonna win it. So far no other team has really impressed me, but ofcourse Germany, France, Brasil and Argentina are all really good teams.

Ok, avete presente il disco perfetto che vorreste ascoltare dopo ogni acquisto? Eccolo qui.
Potrebbe finire già così la recensione di Banana Brain uscito oramai nel 2007 per la Bachelor Records in vinile (500 copie numerate a mano, la mia è la 432) e in cd, l’anno successivo, dalla sempre attenta Monster Zero di Kevin Aper. In ogni caso faremo un passo indietro, e parleremo in breve della band e del disco, una vera gemma che consiglio a tutti di avere nella propria collezione di dischi.
The Mugwumps ( da non confondere con la rock band americana ) sono/furono un terzetto punk rock proveniente dal Tirolo, Austria con alle spalle una breve ma validissima discografia: oltre al disco in recensione, gli austriaci hanno pubblicato due 7″ “…Slit Your Tire” per la Varmint Records e “Do Time” per la It’s Alive Records . Dopodichè (purtroppo) il silenzio più assoluto.
L’album è stato registrato (in due soli giorni) e mixato al Madras Prison Studio di Monaco per mano di Hank Spinalzo, vecchia conoscenza del rock ‘n roll tedesco. Il master invece è opera di Hartmut Welz, mentre foto e grafica sono state realizzate da un certo Mario. All’interno è presente anche un bel librettino dal sapore DIY/old school con tanto di testi, foto e info del disco; giusto per rendere il tutto ancora più figo.
Banana Brain comprende 10 pezzi al fulmicotone con temi, spesso ironici e amati dai punk rockers: ragazze, amori, invasioni aliene, club di merda e scena ( a quanto pare nemmeno in Austria sono messi così bene!). Il sound mi ricorda piacevolmente i Riverdales, RetardedeThe Vapids: se amate queste band non potrete fare a meno di adorare anche questo disco! I pezzi sono pressoché essenziali come il Vangelo del Three-Chords impone: zero assoli, zero virtuosismi, qualche coretto, ritornelli super-catchy e tanta velocità: insomma cosa si vuole di più da un disco punk-rock?
Individuare i pezzi migliori per me è davvero un compito troppo difficile, brani come Don’t Have A Clue, That Heartbeat,Banana Brain,We Hate Your Club o Radiate My Brain entrano dritti nel cuore al primo ascolto, c’è poco da fare. Compratelo e basta, cazzo!
Il gruppo è in stand-by dal 2009 ma l’ultima newsletter della Monster Zero parla di una nuova uscita (Mugwumps pubblicheranno una cassetta con 20 canzoni per Campfire Tapes – Questo non è uno scherzo!): sinceramente non ho capito quanto questa notizia possa essere veritiera, sta di fatto che le ultime notizie pubblicate dalla band sul proprio sito, ormai molto tempo fa, parlavano di 6 pezzi registrati per un 7″ e 14 pezzi pronti per un nuovo full length…se la matematica non è un opinione….
