Looking back to the past year , one of my personal regrets is that I didn’t give much space to the younger bands that certainly proved to have the right attitude – or rather, the ones I like – to enter in my grace.
If we want to add that one of the bands in question who began as a cover band and between the songs they played, there were also a couple of
I Monelli , I can only say that there is one more reason why I like them.
Ok, time for the bullshit is over, today we talk about
Go To The Fast Food self-released debut EP at the end of 2013 by
The Moes, a punk-rock quartet from Milan who have only active for a few years, but definitely has a clear idea about the road that must be followed .
And the road taken is the one that I like simplicity, spontaneity, and a lots of choruses. Yes, ok that’s not a miracle but listening to the songs they alternate pleasure moments with a few hiccups in their playing, definitely excusable whereas we speak of an absolute beginning for a band.
With clichés of the genre, the songs also speak with a hint of genuine irony about girls , cheeseburger,
hipsters ( sorry
Mob, but they say them!) and
pornstars: who can not tear a beautiful smile to myself at the end of listening , thanks to songs like
Wanna Be,
Run Away – my favorite piece – and
Sasha.
So, top marks. Now the ball passes back to them : grow up and try to carve out a little space in the world of punk-rock/pop-punk or call it quits and then reform after a few years (as do 95% of the bands ) to play
orgcore, or whatever the fuck it’s called. We’ll see.
In the meantime, give
these guys a chance, listen their record and if you like it, than buy it … it seems something is going on: we are lying in wait for them, hoping for a further step forward.
Well done, keep it up!
