Let’s go to the point. We’ve already talked a lot about The La Massoneria Ramonica in the previous post: the boys have the Ramones in the heart and these songs just confirm it. All three songs are very – beautiful ( why… you can read here) but Marky Ramone IceCream, only yet for the title, deserves the prize of song of the year! Rumors say that for the next release there will be a song about Marky’s meatballs… in the meantime I enjoy these tracks and I look forward to the next songs!
After the first 3 tracks is time for the Drawing Dead. Two new songs and a cover of Bram Tchaikovsky who remind me the Riverdales. I saw live this band several times, even here they confirm the good impression I had : the new songs are interesting and when Robi sings – Sarah Smiles – it’s obvious is another story: in my humble opinion this is the path that should be followed.
We are now in the middle of the split and it’s the time of the “rookies” Thirtysevens that really impressed me. I had no idea about this band but after a long gossip research I knew that in the band there are members of the Proton Packs. Let be clea : there is nothing new (but who cares?) and the proposed sound recalls the guitars, the scratchy voice and backing vocals of the Screeching Weasel during the Wiggle-period that deserve a constant repeat for each song. All the songs are really cool, but Time Travel Equation deserves a special mention. They played a couple of times around my area and I’ve lost them, I really deserve a couple of lashes … I hope to remedy soon. Great job guys!
In closure there is Agent Pazz, yet another one man band treated in these pages. I got to appreciate the talent of this kid a couple of times live and in the split he did last year with the Tough: these songs confirm the excellent impression he made me. Three excellent melodic and poppy at the right point tunes to prove that maybe, sometimes, it’s much much better to work alone. Hurricane Jane with this keyboard so catchy – instrument that normally I hate to listen in punk rock – came into my head at first listen. Thumbs up for this guy!
Summing up, another praise for the Monkeyrite Records for producing a beautiful CD, buy it and support this young label that is working hard in Italy!
